WVG community-
Please know that providing the best possible care for our furry patients and our two-legged clients has always been, and will continue to be, our highest priority.
Like many businesses, WVG has been hit very hard by the recent increase in COVID cases. We are currently experiencing a dramatic staff shortage due to illness. We apologize for the inconvenience, but please be aware that phone wait times, doctor/staff call-backs, and prescription refill times will be longer than usual. Your patience and kindness towards our staff goes a long way in making this difficult situation better, so any words of encouragement are appreciated.
Please be patient, be compassionate, and above all be kind.
Thank you,
The dedicated Staff of WVG

WVG community-
Flea/Tick and heartworm preventatives are one of the best ways to make sure that you are maintaining optimal health in your furry family member. We will now be carrying Simparica Trio in the clinic! This product is a great option for compliance as it combines flea, tick and heartworm prevention in one tasty monthly chewable.
Simparica Trio (flea, tick AND heartworm) will be replacing the original Simparica chews (flea and tick control only) as an in-clinic option. DON’T WORRY! If you would like to continue using original Simparica will still be available for purchase at our online pharmacy (winchesterveterinarygroupinc.vetsfirstchoice.com).
We understand that choosing the best option for monthly preventatives can be very confusing when there are so many available products. The WVG staff is always happy to answer any questions and help you make the most informed choices, creating a preventative plan that works for you and your pet.
Please feel free to call the office (781-721-0707) with any questions or concerns that you may have!
As always, we appreciate the trust that you place in us.
Take care,
The staff of WVG

As always, we thank you for the trust you place in us to care for your pets and wish everyone a happy and safe holiday!

To our valued clients,
The health and safety of our patients, clients, and staff is our primary concern.
We know many of you are anxious to accompany your pets into the clinic and we are looking forward to a time when we are able to welcome you in. While we understand that as of Saturday, May 29 the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has rescinded most Covid-19 related orders including the statewide mask mandate, at this time Winchester Veterinary Group plans to continue following the COVID-19 guidelines we have in place and to offer our curbside concierge service. We ask that our clients continue to wear masks when on clinic grounds and interacting with clinic staff, including outdoors to help keep our staff safe. Our employees will also continue to wear masks. Veterinary staff was not a priority group for vaccination, and as such many staff members are not fully vaccinated as defined by the CDC. We thank you for your cooperation in helping protect vulnerable community members.
We are planning for a safe, phased approach to allowing clients back into the clinic. We will make necessary adjustments to clinic policy as we monitor public health trends. We will update you on a regular basis, and look forward to welcoming you and your pets back into the office
Thank you for your patience and understanding, and for entrusting your pet’s care to us.
Be well,
The Staff at Winchester Veterinary Group

Dear WVG Friends and Family,
We are tremendously happy that vaccinations against COVID-19 are more widely available, and that all in our community are eligible. As a result, we have had many questions about reopening the office to the public.
As of yet, we do not have a firm timeline for allowing clients to enter the clinic. We are trying to reassess on a month-by-month basis, taking into consideration evolving information and guidelines from federal and local public health organizations. With so much unknown about cross-protection against new strains and duration of immunity, we will continue to prioritize the health and safety of both our staff and clients so that we may continue to serve our beloved patients.
Please continue to follow our current COVID protocol of calling when you arrive for an appointment or to pick up prescriptions/products.
We will continue to post updates to clinic policy and appointment availability on our website as information becomes available.
Thank you, as always, for your patience and kindness.

Dear WVG Community:
We understand the recent USA Today article regarding Seresto collars has generated widespread concern. The reporting in this article is primarily anecdotal and does not delve into existing data; no toxicological or post-mortem analysis was provided. No veterinary toxicologists or pharmacologists were consulted, and no distinction was made between genuine, counterfeit, and lookalike products. Association and coincidence does not prove causality, and anyone can file an adverse event report without substantiation.
We have years of experience with Seresto collars, and have seen only minor side effects (usually skin rash or hair loss) in our patient population. Of course, we cannot rule out individual sensitivities to chemicals/drugs/medications. We are monitoring input from veterinary specialists, and at this time continue to stock and dispense genuine Seresto collars. Please see our resources page for a brief comparison of flea/tick preventatives if you are considering alternatives. For a rational breakdown of the article itself, see http://skeptvet.com/Blog/2021/03/seresto-flea-tick-collars-the-new-satanic-panic

To our potential new clients: We have currently put a cap on new enrollments. This is due in part to a high demand for new pet appointments over the past few months. Typically, we try to see new pets in a timely manner and have found that we are unable to to do so, which is not in the best interest of a young pet. Please continue to check back with us as we intend to open enrollment for new clients as soon as possible.
